Mumbai Indians won the toss as captain Rohit Sharma elected to field first. While Ajinkya Rahane got out early, Saurabh Tiwary and Steve Smith did well enough to recover the Rising Pune Supergiants from there with an 84 run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Peter Handscomb walked out at no.4 playing his first ever IPL game for Pune. During the course of the game, there was some displeasure in the field between Harbhajan Singh and Ambati Rayudu. As Tiwary pushed the ball wide off long on, Rayudu made a valiant effort by putting a full-length dive to stop the ball from the boundary but in a failed attempt.

That didn’t go down well with Harbhajan who lashed some words to which Rayudu yelled back to him. Harbhajan Singh then played the crusader role as he went all the way to the fielder to comfort him but Rayudu was still not satisfied with what happened. It was not quite a pleasuring sight to see with both having represented the Indian team and having also been part of the MI franchise for years.

Later on both hugged each other after the fall of Handscomb’s wicket in the next over. It was good to see both players left what happened in the field itself. In the past, there have been various incidents in the IPL, where Indian players have come at loggerheads.

Twitter was surprised with this completely unexpected incident. While some took it in an unsporting way, others went all hilarious on it. Some were divided whether who was right, Rayudu or Harbhajan. Here are some of the Twitter reactions on the Bhajji-Rayudu faceoff.
