Another day of Test cricket and another day when the Indians played sweet chin music against the Sri Lankan team. That’s been the story of the series so far and it continued on Day 2 of the second Test between India and Sri Lanka. While Dimuth Karunaratne managed to end Cheteshwar Pujara’s stay at the crease, Ajinkya Rahane alongside Ravichandran Ashwin continued to bat along and built a 63-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Rahane was stumped out on 132; Ashwin soon followed after scoring a half century.

While Hardik Pandya played a 20-run cameo, it was some ravishing half centuries from Wriddhiman Saha and Ravindra Jadeja which took India to 600 for the second consecutive time in the series. Mohammed Shami’s splendid cameo also help India get some quick runs towards the end. Skipper Virat Kohli decided to declare at 622/9 with around 20 overs left for stumps.

Rangana Herath was the pick amongst the Sri Lankan bowlers with four wickets in his kitty. Malinda Pushpakumara got a couple of wickets as the rest of the bowlers chipped in as well. If they hadn’t faced enough woes in the bowling, more was to follow in the batting department.

Both the openers, Upul Tharanga and Karunaratne were dismissed by Ashwin who seemed in a great patch with the ball too after having scored a fifty in the morning. Shami and Jadeja also bowled tightly as India maintained the pressure on hosts.

At stumps on Day 2, Sri Lanka were two down for 50 with Kusal Mendis and Dinesh Chandimal at the crease. While it seems highly unlikely that India stands a chance to lose this, the hosts would want to force a draw. Chandimal, for instance, has staged a turnaround the last time India were in the island. But for that, Sri Lanka will have to bat out of their skins.

Here are some of the amazing Twitter reactions that took place during the course of the game:
