Twitter Reactions: India trounce Sri Lanka by 93 runs

The T20 international game at Cuttack turned out to be a completely one-sided affair. India went on to register an astounding victory by 93 runs to lead the series 1-0. Earlier in the day, it was skipper Thisara Perera who won the toss as Sri Lanka elected to bat first. India included KL Rahul and Jaydev Unadkat in the playing XI. As for Sri Lanka, they had Dasun Shanaka and Vishwa Fernando coming in.

Batting first, India were off to a good start before Rohit Sharma was caught at mid-on. Shreyas Iyer came up as he and KL Rahul combined for a 63-run partnership from just 46 balls. The run rate became sucked up towards the end as both Iyer and Rahul were dismissed in quick succession.

MS Dhoni walked in at No.4 as he alongside Manish Pandey put up a sensational 68 runs from just 33 balls. India managed to score a total of 180/3, thanks to some fireworks by Dhoni and Pandey at the end overs. While Pandey was 32 (18)*, Dhoni stayed not out on 39 (22).

Sri Lanka were off to a poor start as they lost Niroshan Dickwella in the second over of the game. Unadkat got his maiden T20I wicket. For a moment, it seemed as if Upul Tharanga was gaining some momentum. However, he ended up edging a wide delivery going down the leg side to Dhoni.

Chahal continued to strike as he got rid of both Angelo Mathews as well as Asela Gunaratne. Kuldeep Yadav too joined the party as Dasun Shanaka hit one in the air only to find Hardik Pandya. The islanders were reduced to 58/5 with the required rate going above 12.

Even skipper Thisara Perera was dismissed cheaply as the Sri Lankan lower order fell like a pack of cards. The visitors were bundled for 87 runs in just 16 overs. Chahal had impressive figures of 4/23 while Hardik Pandya got three wickets.
