Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bowl in the first T20I against Australia in Ranchi. Australia’s stand-in skipper David Warner brought in the debutant Jason Behrendorff. India added Shikhar Dhawan as Rohit Sharma’s opening partner in the playing XI.
David Warner started the first innings with two back to back boundaries off Bhuvneshwar Kumar but failed to build the innings as he was sent back by his SRH teammate for eight runs. Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell tried their best to add runs on the board but the latter departed once again to Yuzvendra Chahal after building 47-run partnership for second wicket.
Destructive Aaron Finch was set to take the game away from India with his thunderous batting but Kuldeep Yadav’s magic restricted the batsman from scoring big as he was departed for 42 runs off 30 balls. Indian pace all-rounder was also among the wickets as he sent back the out of form Travis Head for just nine runs. Moises Henriques was quick to follow Head to pavilion.
Jasprit Bumrah strikes twice in an over
Tim Paine took the responsibility of building the innings, but he was also packed by Jasprit Bumrah with a beautiful ball. The yorker king struck twice in the same over by departing Nathan Coulter-Nile for a single run. At 18.4 overs, Australia are 118 for the loss of 8 wickets as rain disturbed the Indian bowlers dominance.
All of Indian five bowlers picked wickets in the innings. Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah picked two wickets each. Bhuvi, Chahal and Hardik settled for a wicket each. Indian batsmen will aim to chase down the whatever target that’s been set by the Aussie batsmen. The hosts continue to dominate Australian team in all the departments in the ongoing series.
