After a shocking and embarrassing defeat against Sri Lanka in the first game of the Nidahas Trophy 2018, team India looked like a jolted camp. They had arrived in the tournament as the pre-tournament favorites. Hence, a defeat in the series opener was a hard pill to digest. With this backdrop, they took on Bangladesh in their next fixture of the series.

A win is absolutely essential for the Indian team in the game to keep their chances healthy in the series. Currently, at the half way stage in the game, India do seem to have a firm control on the proceedings. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first. Rohit remarked that the track is expected to get better as the game progresses and hence, chasing is what the team is eyeing.

Team India fielded an unchanged eleven for the match. On the other hand, Bangladesh fielded five bowlers and six batters. Coming to the proceedings, Soumya Sarkar showed elegance with the bat first up as he scored 14 off 12 deliveries. His stay was cut short by Jaydev Unadkat who sent him packing in the third over.

Tamim Iqbal, the other opener, could only score 15 before becoming a victim of Shardul Thakur a couple of overs. Mushfiqur Rahim looked good for his 14-ball 18 before getting dismissed by Vijay Shankar. Vijay Shankar soon got rid of Mahmudullah (1) as well.

Meanwhile, Liton Das looked to up the ante after getting a decent start. Bangladesh stood at 107/4 by the end of 15 overs and needed a final flourish. Liton failed in his attempt to accelerate and departed after scoring 34 off 30 balls. Sabbir Rahman managed to provide some impetus to the innings towards the end as the wickets kept falling at regular intervals.

Rahman scored 30 off 26 deliveries as Bangladesh finished with 139/8 in their stipulated 20 overs. Certainly, it looks like an underpar total on the track. Meanwhile, for team India, Jaydev Unadkat finished with figures of 3/38 in his four overs to be the pick of the Indian bowlers.
