West Indies’ victory in the ongoing third and final Test against England is all but inevitable. The Three Lions endured a hard time on Day 3 as their batters put up another disappointing show. With the home team gaining a 93-run lead in the first innings, England batters had a job in hand. However, they failed to showcase resilience and ended the day at 103/8.

Joe Root’s men currently lead by 10 runs and with just two wickets in hand, they aren’t likely to go a long way. Joshua Da Silva and Kyle Mayers stole the show on Day 3 and put West Indies on the cusp of a stellar win. It must be noted that the first two Test matches of the series ended in a draw. Hence, the winner of this clash would walk away with the series triumph.

Joshua Da Silva records his maiden Test ton

Speaking of how Day 3 panned out, West Indies resumed at their overnight score of 232/8. Da Silva, who started the day at the score of 54, continued his good work and brought up his maiden Test ton. Tailenders Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales provided the wicketkeeper significant support as the hosts posted 297 in reply to England’s first innings score of 204 runs.

With Kraigg Brathwaite’s team earning a substantial lead, England needed to bat their heart out in their second innings. However, they couldn’t do so and lost wickets at regular intervals. Kyle Mayers was West Indies’ wrecker-in-chief with the ball as he scalped his maiden five-wicket haul in Tests. As a result, England ended the day at 103/8 with Chris Woakes and Jack Leach being the two batters in the middle.

Mayers was delighted with his performance and he expressed the same after the conclusion of the day’s play. “It (five-ferlikable) was a very special moment for me. The team wanted this victory. I tried to make the batsmen play as much as possible. That (Da Silva’s) innings was very special. We wanted him to get his first hundred. His best friend was sitting on the balcony. It was an emotional moment for me as well, he was crying after getting his century,” stated Mayers.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitter reacted to the proceedings of Day 3:
