No Hardik Pandya, No problem! Gujarat Titans have recorded their fifth in IPL 2022 courtesy of a stellar knock from David Miller. The new franchise has certainly made a habit of handing oppositions heartbreaking defeats. In another cliffhanger, the Rashid Khan-led GT beat Chennai Super Kings by three wickets, chasing down 170 in the penultimate ball of the game. Besides Miller, skipper Rashid was also instrumental in GT’s triumph.

Earlier in the match, Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bowl at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. CSK got off to a terrible start with opener Robin Uthappa and Moeen Ali recording single-digit scores. The repair work was then done by Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had been under fire before this game, and veteran Ambati Rayudu. The duo batted aggressively and added 92 runs for the third wicket.

While Rayudu was dismissed for 46, Gaikwad brought up his much-awaited maiden half-century of the season. He eventually fell prey to Yash Dayal after scoring 73 off 48 balls. The likes of Alzarri Joseph and stand-in skipper Rashid Khan bowled brilliantly in the end overs as Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube couldn’t score at a rate they would have wanted to.

Nonetheless, the duo did play some fine shots as CSK posted 169/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Playing his first game of the season, Alzarri Joseph was the pick of the GT bowlers, scalping a couple of wickets. In reply, GT got off a terrible start with Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar bagging ducks. Wriddhiman Saha and Abhinav Manohar also looked rusty, scoring 11 and 12 runs respectively.

David Miller led Gujarat Titans’ emphatic

The Titans looked entirely down and out with the scorecard reading 48/4. Moreover, the required run rate was constantly going up. However, David Miller decided to fight back as he brought his A-game out. Despite not getting much support from the other end, the South African dasher didn’t put his guards down and brought up a fine half-century.

He eventually found a substantial partner in skipper Rashid, who also made his bat talk in the game. The duo’s blitzes meant GT were right back in the hunt. While Rashid was dismissed for a 21-ball 40, Miller remained unbeaten on 94 as GT crossed the line in the penultimate ball of the game.

Notably, Chris Jordan bowled a thrilling last over wherein Miller was caught off a waist-high no-ball. That mistake hurt the defending champions as GT tightened their grip at the top of the IPL 2022 points table.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitter reacted to GT’s thrilling win:
