Twitter Reactions: Kohli stars in series levelling win for India: AB de Villiers scored his 22nd ODI century in what was an innings of the highest pedigree but it was not enough for South Africa to clinch the series. Their counterparts India eventually reached home to a series levelling win by 35 runs. The chase always looked wobbly for the Proteas once India had managed to give them a 300 run target. And things were made no easier with the visitors loosing 4 wickets for just 88 on the board. AB, the skipper staged a great fightback as Farhaan Behardien and Chris Morris supported him well but was left with too much to do in the sapping Chennai humidity. Axar Patel and Bhajji bowled well in tandem.
Amla had another failure in what is turning out to be a disastrous series for him with the willow. De Cock was looking good but was done by a Bhajji beauty. In a way it was one way traffic since the spinners came on. That tells you about the quality of AB’s fabulous knock (112 off 107 balls). He single-handedly kept South Africa in the chase but with his dismissal also went hopes of South Africa pulling it off.
Earlier MS Dhoni chose to bat on a pitch that was expected to turn as the match progressed. Rohit and Dhawan departed without substantial contribution and the onus was now on Kohli who looked fluent right from the outset. And India’s run machine delivered. Rahane supported him well as they stitched a crucial century stand before Steyn got the Mumbaikar. Raina came back into form with an aggressive half century.
Kohli hit his first ODI century against South Africa (138 off 140) and became the second player to score most ODI tons for India. But India suffered a slow down in the last few overs and managed just 29 off the last five finishing on 299.
The win gives India breathing space as they look to win the series in Mumbai. Twitter was abuzz with interesting observations and tributes also poured in for Virat and AB both of whom played exemplary knocks on a tough pitch.

Two top centuries…unfortunate that one of the centurions had to finish on the losing side. To me AB's ton was better of the two. #IndvSA

There are great players, there are players of great innings – ABdV is both; but he is also certainly a player of truly great shots. #IndvSA
