Delhi Capitals have recorded a much-needed win courtesy of a stellar spell from Kuldeep Yadav. The star spinner took yet another four-fer against his former franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, taking his side to a four-wicket win. It was a low-scoring thriller that had its fair share of twists and turns. However, DC eventually chased down 147 to record their fourth victory in IPL 2022.

Earlier in the match, Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. KKR’s top-order woes haunted them yet again as Aaron Finch and Venkatesh Iyer were dismissed for single-digit scores. While skipper Shreyas Iyer held one end, the other middle-order batters couldn’t do much courtesy of Kuldeep Yadav, who scalped his second four-wicket haul of the competition.

Second four-wicket haul for Kuldeep Yadav this season

Shreyas finally got a substantial partner in Nitish Rana and the duo steadied the ship with a 48-run stand for the fifth wicket. While the KKR skipper perished for 42, Rana shifted gears in the end overs and brought up his second half-century of the season. Overall, the southpaw amassed 57 runs off just 34 deliveries as KKR posted 146/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, DC got off to a horrible start with Umesh Yadav dismissing Prithvi Shaw in the very first ball of the innings. Number-three batter Mitchell Marsh couldn’t do much either and went back for a seven-ball 13. The ship was then steadied by David Warner and Lalit Yadav, who added 65 runs for the third wicket. While Lalit looked a bit rusty and took the backseat, Warner showed remarkable intent as the required run rate never went out of control.

Just when DC’s triumph looked a mere formality, Warner, Lalit and even skipper Rishabh Pant perished inside two runs. This turned the game on its head as KKR seemed right back in the hunt. However, crucial contributions from Rovman Powell and Axar Patel meant DC eventually crossed the line in 19 overs, clinching the contest by four wickets.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitter reacted to DC’s triumph:
