Twitter Reactions: Mitchell Marsh's 56 off 22 balls guides Perth Scorchers to the win against Melbourne Renegades

Perth Scorchers locked horns with Melbourne Renegades in the 7th match of Big Bash League 2019-20. It turned out to be a high scoring encounter with batsmen dominating the bowlers. In a competitive game, Scorchers managed to outclass Renegades by 11 runs.

At the start, Renegades won the toss and elected to field. However, the bowlers proved the decision of their skipper right as they dismissed opener Josh Inglis, in the 2nd over of the innings. The right-handed batsman tried to clip the ball for a boundary but ended up giving a catch to Daniel Christian standing at the point.

Cameron Bancroft, who came out to bat on number three looked in full flow with the bat. After seven overs, Richard Gleeson helped his side in getting a breakthrough, who dismissed settled Renegades batsman Liam Livingstone. The right-handed batsman tried a pull shot in his attempt to hit a six but didn’t time his stroke because of which he was caught by Aaron Finch at mid-off.

Mitchell Marsh’s swashbuckling fifty propels Scorchers

From the other end, Bancroft was smashing the Renegade bowlers all across the park. He played a good knock of 51 runs off 37 balls with three boundaries one six before he was dismissed by Kane Richardson. He left his side in a comfortable position and the incoming batsmen took maximum advantage of it.

The Scorchers skipper Mitchell Marsh muscled 56 runs in 22 balls with one boundary and six sixes. His magical knock and brilliant effort of Bancroft helped Scorchers in posting a mammoth total of 197 runs at a loss of seven wickets in stipulated 20 overs.

On the other hand, Kane Richardson turned out to be the best bowler for Renegades, who registered amazing bowling figures of 4/22. He dismissed Josh Inglis, Cameron Bancroft, Ashton Turner and Ashton Agar in four-over spell but couldn’t restrict the opponents at a low score.

Coming onto the chase, Renegades got off to a great start with 43 runs in first four overs of the innings. The fast bowler of Scorchers, Joel Paris helped his side in getting their first breakthrough after a terrible start. He dismissed dangerous-looking Aaron Finch (28 runs off 15 balls).

Shaun Marsh, who came out to bat at number three, took some time to get settled. But, soon he also started playing his mesmerising strokes against Scorcher bowlers. He mustered 55 runs off 38 balls and also stitched a brilliant partnership of 88 runs with Beau Webster (67 runs off 37 balls).

It looked like the duo might help in winning the match for Renegades but that was not the case. Marsh couldn’t hold on his nerves and got out playing an irresponsible stroke. He tried to hit a six over the long-on but ended up giving a regular catch to Chris Jordan.

Jordan turned out to be the best bowler for Scorchers, who registered brilliant bowling figures of 2/30. Moreover, he took a mind-wobbling catch of Daniel Christian near the boundary ropes and it was one of the super highlights for that match.

In the end, Melbourne Renegades lost the match by a margin of 11 runs against Perth Scorchers. However, after the match, the fans congratulated Perth Scorchers for convincingly winning the match.
