A high scoring thriller of a game was on display in the 8th game of the PSL 2022 edition as both teams stacked up sixes at will. It would be one of the painful losses for Islamabad United’s skipper Shadab Khan, who sizzled with an sensational knock. He has certainly rooted a lot of promise for his future. It was a run feast out there in the middle as more than 400 runs were scored on the day and a total of 26 sixes were hit combinedly.
Earlier in the day, Islamabad United won the toss and opted to bowl at the National Stadium in Karachi. In form opener, Shan Masood got going as always with a brisk 43 off 32 deliveries while his skipper Mohammad Rizwan was removed early for just 12. Sohaib Maqsood couldn’t contribute much as well scoring just 13 and the onus was on Riley Rossouw and Tim David to take the team to a big score.
David, in particular, looked dangerous as he made 71 off just 29 deliveries and smashed the bowlers to all parts of the ground while Rossouw remained unbeaten on 67 off 35 balls. Khusdhil Shah gave the final touches with two boundaries in his first two balls, which propelled the score to a massive 217 for the loss of 5 wickets. The partnership of 110 for the fourth wicket turned out to be the igniting point for the Multan Sultans while posting the daunting score while all the bowlers of Islamabad United suffered damages in their economy rates particularly.
Shadab Khan unleashed ‘beast’ mode with the bat
In reply, Islamabad United went after the bowling straight away but lost wickets of openers Paul Stirling and Alex Hales despite reaching 50 inside the powerplay. Skipper Shadab Khan came into bat at number four and he showed up his big-hitting skills with a splendid inning of 91 in just 42 deliveries and spreaded the fireworks with prolific six-hitting. The 23-year-old struck five fours and nine maximums which kept the Islamabad United in the hunt for a win despite contant fall of wickets.
However, once Shadab was gone, it was curtains for the Islamabad United while the Khushdil Shah’s four-wicket haul has to be credited as well. Willey picked up three wickets for 38 runs and wrapped up the win for the Multan Sultans by a margin of 20 runs. The Multan Sultans have now won four in a row and to stay at the top of the points table while the Islamabad United are on two points with one win and one win in their two games so far.
Here’s how the Twitterati reacted to the win:

The Multan Sultans- Islamabad United scorecard reminds me of KKR vs MI in 2019, when Russell hit a big knock in the first innings (like David) and Pandya hit a big score in vain in the second (like Shadab). #PSL

Tim David is the 100th different player to win the 'Man of the Match Award' in PSL.
Out of 186 awards, Kamran Akmal & Luke Ronchi have won the most (7 each). 5 players have won it despite ending on the losing side (Yasir, D Smith, U Gul, Shadab & Smeed).#PSL7 #PSL2022 #IUvMS

Hasan Ali has been disappointing in T20 cricket in recent times, his overall T20 stats are very good and has an econ of 7.68 but been in an indifferent form since the World Cup.
What exactly isn’t working for him now that worked in the past ?#PSL2022#PSL7 #LevelHai
