Mumbai Indians took on the Royal Challengers Bangalore at their fortress, the Wankhede. Rohit Sharma won the toss as Mumbai elected to field first. While MI brought in Pollard, RCB made as many as 6 changes including Travis Head and Kane Richardson.

Coming out to bat, RCB recovered well after KL Rahul got out. Both Kohli and AB de Villiers put up a good platform as they raced their way to 91 runs in 10 overs. However, once both the set batsmen got out, the run rate dipped. The late charge by Head and Sarfaraz Khan ensured that RCB had a total to defend.

Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for MI as he took 3 wickets. Krunal Pandya also took 2 big wickets in the form of Kohli and ABD. RCB went on to score 170/7 in their quota of 20 overs.

On the other hand, MI lost Parthiv Patel early as Richardson struck on his first ball of this year’s IPL. However, Rohit scored a spectacular 62 runs from 44 balls as he paved the way for a Mumbai win. He was supported well by the new no.3 Ambati Rayudu. In the end, it was a Buttler and Pollard show as MI won the game by 6 wickets with 2 overs to spare.

Rohit Sharma was announced the man of the match for his superb match winning innings. Twitter kept everyone entertained with some amazing tweets throughout the crucial MI vs RCB encounter. Here are some of the tweets that took place during the course of the game:
