Twitter Reactions: Nathan Lyon’s career best haul dismiss India for 189

After all the talks of the mistakes committed by the Indian batsmen at Pune, they were firm that there will be no repeat of what happened in the first Test but once Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon got into his groove they were just walking back to the pavilion one after the other. Murali Vijay having hurt his shoulder missed the game and Abhinav Mukund was making a comeback but was dismissed for a duck by Mitchell Starc.
No.3 Cheteshwar Pujara, the epitome of stability and defense in this Indian team got into a good partnership with the other opener KL Rahul but right at the stroke of lunch was dismissed by Lyon caught by Peter Handscomb who was always stationed around the bat. Virat Kohli started off well but didn’t look his usual self. Australia always kept the pressure on and the run weren’t coming easy that allowed the bowlers to execute their strategies well.
Virat for the second time in as many innings had a brain fade of sorts, he didn’t offer a shot on an incoming delivery from Lyon and it hit him straight on the pads. He was on his way back and so were India’s hopes of posting a big first innings total. Rahul all this while was batting with a lot of patience and commitment. He played the sweep and the reverse sweep but didn’t loft the ball, the shot that led to his dismissal in the first inning of the previous game.
Ajinkya Rahane and Karun Nair both had starts while the latter looked a lot more comfortable and at ease on the crease were stumped coming a bit too far down the wicket and being beaten by the turn or absence of it. Wriddhiman Saha was caught in the slip by Steve Smith off a beauty from Lyon and so was Ravindra Jadeja. After watching 9 partners walk back Rahul was the last to get out on 90 and the off-spinner wrapped up the Indian innings with an 8-wicket haul his first in Test cricket.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Team India’s dismal batting show:
Nathan Lyon (8-50) now has the best bowling by a touring player in India; Previously Lance Klusener 8-64 at Kolkata in 1996 #INDvAUS

Remember Anil Kumble getting 7 wickets on the first day of a test match once and going "wow". Well, it is time to say "wow" to Nathan Lyon.

Nathan Lyon 22.2 over and gives only 50 runs took 8 wickets. It's really outstanding. Congratulations

Lyon's 8 for 50:
– 6th best for Australia
– 4th best by any bowler vs India
– best by a visiting bowler in India#IndvAus— Bharath Seervi (@SeerviBharath) March 4, 2017
Sachin, Sindhu, Laxman made Warne look ordinary.
Kohli, Rahane, Pujara making Lyon look extraordinary.

Kohli's 25 runs in 3 inns is his worst start to a Test series (min: 2 Tests) since his 1st series v WI, 2011 when he scored 4,15,0 #INDvAUS

Careless batting except for @klrahul11 shows that our team has not learnt their lesson from Pune! Worrying signs! @imVkohli ??#IndvAus
