Day 2 at Dharamshala witnessed some splendid cricketing action from both the sides. Indian batsmen and Australian bowlers showed great resilience and character to keep the game at bay. After all, this match is going to be decisive in determining the trophy winners.
The Indian openers walked out to bat on a Sunday morning. They were greeted by some great seam bowling from the Australian pair. Both Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins bowled a fantastic spell to keep the batsmen on their toes. While Murali Vijay got out for 11, KL Rahul was dropped in the slips by Matt Renshaw.
However, some resolute and steady batting by Cheteshwar Pujara and Rahul helped India go through that phase. As the second session began, the pitch became slightly on the easier side for the batsmen. The opener went on to score his fifth half century in the series before he was intimidated by Cummins.
Ajinkya Rahane walked in as he along with Pujara took India to a healthy position with 153/2 at tea. The game resumed and Nathan Lyon surely had something special during the break. Within five overs, he sent back both Pujara as well as Karun Nair to the pavilion.
Ravichandran Ashwin again batted above Wriddhiman Saha and played his best knock of the series so far. Just when it appeared that the partnership will see off through the day, Lyon again struck twice in the space of his 3 overs. He dismissed the dangerous Rahane first and later trapped Ashwin in front of the stumps.
Ravindra Jadeja who came out at No.8 made sure there were no further damages though he didn’t shy from hitting two ball into the fence off Lyon and Steve O’Keefe. Later in the day, Saha was dropped by Renshaw as Pat Cummins didn’t seem quite amused. India ended the day at 248/6 with Jadeja and Saha on the crease.
While this game hadn’t seen a review till tea today, there were four unsuccessful reviews on the trot later. Guess MS Dhoni won’t be too pleased watching that. At the end, it was a day that catered to both sides. India would be looking forward to staying afloat and try taking a lead while Australia would be glad to contain India before lunch.
Here are some of the amazing Twitter reactions that took place during the course of the game:

It was not the short ball which got Rahul out but provocation from Cummins aft the previous ball that got Rahul. Superb strategy. #INDvsAUS

Best time to bat in the series is right now. Ball is 30 overs old, wicket looks flat, not to much spin. ?? needs to make the most of it.
