Day 4 of the New Zealand vs Pakistan second Test was all about the Kiwis. Jeet Raval faced just the one delivery of the inning that was bowled on the 3rd day and when they walked out on the fourth day the task ahead of them was to not just score the runs but the pace at which they got those mattered as well. At the end of the day, Kane Williamson & Co. will feel they got through it quite comprehensively having posted 313 runs against 5 wickets which gave them a lead of 368 runs.
The opener Raval was dismissed leg before wicket by Mohammad Amir early in the day on the individual score of 2 and that gave Pakistan a lot of hopes. But they weren’t to last too long as the next pair of Tom Latham and skipper Williamson got together pretty well and took the score over the 100-run mark. Williamson eventually fell to Imran Khan just seven short of his half century.
Latham carried on with Ross Taylor for company now. The duo had the bigger responsibility of materializing the momentum and building onto the platform. Taylor was the aggressor and played some beautiful shots but as they looked dangerous Wahab Riaz had Latham caught by Sarfaraz on 80 and the partnership was broken.
Henry Nicholls, Colin de Grandhomme and wicketkeeper BJ Watling all contributed along as Taylor raced his way to yet another ton, his 16th in Tests. As soon as he got into the triple figures New Zealand declared on the team score of 313 while Taylor was unbeaten on 102 and Watling on 15.
For Pakistan right-arm pacer Imran Khan was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped three important wickets while Amir and Wahab shared one wicket a piece. The Kiwi bowlers had 3 overs to see if they could wrack up a wicket but Pakistani openers negotiated it safely to lead them into day 5 with all wickets intact though just 1 run on the board.
Here is how Twitter reacted during the course of the day:
"You always want to contribute & over the last little while I haven't been able to do that so I'm happy to change that." Ross Taylor post ? pic.twitter.com/cSB7XDHLem

In 8 Tests, Imran Khan has 26 wkts at 26.53; Sohail Khan's 24 at 41.41. Imran's played just one Test outside Asia compared to Sohail's five.

The last time Pak batted 100+ overs in the fourth innings was when they scored 382 in 2015. They've done it four times since 2010. #NZvPak

Pak require 369. 348 is the highest fourth innings score to win in NZ; 277 is Pak's highest in NZ; 382 Pak's highest overall. #NZvPak
