West Indies would have come into the second day hoping to wipe off the remaining three wickets of New Zealand cheaply and bundle them out below 325 in the first innings, but that didn’t quite happen as the Kiwi tail wagged and on the back of a half century partnership for the 10th wicket between Trent Boult and Tim Southee, they managed to cross the 370-run mark.

The partnership between Trent Boult and Tim Southee remained the talking point on Twitter as the viewers enjoyed the unorthodox batting of the duo and a few of them were of the opinion that these two players are probably the best no. 10 and no. 11 in the world.

After eventually getting dismissed for 373, the Blackcaps started well with the ball as they got a couple of early wickets before it started raining and the play had to stop. The rain looked heavy and some Twitteratis thought it might lead to an early closure of the day’s play, however, the rain gods showed mercy after some time paving way for the play to restart.

The Kiwi fast bowlers continued with the same rhythm after the play resumed and ran through the West Indies middle order. One of the dismissals was pretty interesting as the young batsman Sunil Ambris got out hit wicket. This was the second time in the series that Ambris was dismissed in this fashion. He had fallen prey to the same sort of dismissal in Wellington too.

Twitterati didn’t miss the opportunity of trolling Ambris brutally for the way he got out. Some said he must be dreaming while batting, while some related his dismissal to Gully Cricket. The former Kiwi fast bowler Ian O’Brien took a dig at Ambris and said that the right-hander is quickly becoming his favourite Cricketer.

As the second day’s play ended, West Indies were struggling at 215 for 8 having been behind New Zealand first innings total by more than 158 runs with no recognized batsman left at the crease. Raymon Reifer and Miguel Cummins were unbeaten at the scores of 22 and 10 respectively.
