Sri Lanka’s troubles only get worse as they are just step match away from consecutive series whitewash defeats while Pakistan’s fortunes have only gotten better since the time they set foot post the Champions Trophy victory.
In the 4th ODI, Sri Lanka were skittled for a meagre 173 with the only notable contribution coming from Lahiru Thiramanne (62 off 94). This loss makes it their 11th on a trot, and it appears like the Island nation has some soul searching to do. Pakistan displayed yet another class bowling act as the bowling unit that the Sri Lankan batsmen had no answer for. Hasan Ali with his 3 for 37 was the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan yet again and was backed up by Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan.
An equally impressive batting performance by an explosive Shoaib Malik and in-form Babar Azam put the Sri Lankan bowlers to shame. Though they had done well to send Imam-ul-Haq back to pavilion almost immediately and that was a big deal considering he had wreaked havoc in his debut game. Fakhar Zaman, too, was easy to send back as he struggled to even make the 17 runs he scored.
However, Babar Azam came in and Pakistan’s troubles all disappeared. Mohammad Hafeez failed to give him the support to continue building the innings but Azam couldn’t have asked for more as Shoaib Malik stepped in to play an outstanding knock. The duo stitched a match winning partnership where Babar Azam’s love affair with Sharjah continued as he racked up a 69-run-anchoring knock supported by a clean hitting Shoaib Malik who scored just as many runs.
Pakistan finished the game with 11 overs remaining and moved up to 8 wins on a trot while Sri Lanka lost their 11th consecutive game. Twitter had some interesting things to say about Pakistan’s winning momentum.

How is it that Hafeez chucks and Danajaya doesn’t????? @ICC
Some of his off-spin deliveries looks questionable #PAKvSL— Nabeel Hashmi (@HashmeNabeel) October 20, 2017
