Proving his critics wrong, a brilliant Steve Smith led by example in the third Test between India and Australia in Ranchi as he scored a rock solid knock of unbeaten 178 which saw his team put a creditable score of 451 on board. Though the Australians got the better of the Indian bowlers in their third encounter, there was one bowler from the Indian team who challenged the Aussies with his outstanding spells.
Ravindra Jadeja showed the cricketing world once again why he is currently the joint number 1 bowler in Test cricket while his compatriot Ravichandran Ashwin had a time to forget. The 28-year-old continued to pick up wickets with support from pacer Umesh Yadav and grabbed a commendable five wicket haul. Apart from the fact that he has been an inspiration with the ball lately, the left armer has always been an athletic fielder throughout his career. We saw an example of his fielding instincts once again as he made his fielding ability count as well along with his bowling.
Jadeja combined with opener and team mate Lokesh Rahul involved in what we can call a sparkling team effort to dismiss the final wicket of Josh Hazlewood. Steve Smith flicked a full delivery from Jadeja towards square leg and was on his way to pull off a quick two runs. Lokesh Rahul did his job acutely and was fast enough to reach the ball on time from his position of short fine. As Rahul threw the ball towards the bowler’s end Jadeja still had a fair amount of work to do which the bowler nailed with perfection and style.
Standing in front of the stumps, Jadeja caught the ball and with lightning fast reaction, back flicked the ball onto the stumps which caught the Australian speedster short of his crease. It gives us an idea of the fantastic awareness and timing Ravindra Jadeja possesses on the field as a fielder. There is no doubt over the fact that the Saurashtra cricketer has proved to be an all round asset for the Indian Team contributing through his batting, bowling and fielding.
Not surprising to see Jadeja pull a Dhoni – it is Ranchi after all! #AUS are all-out for 451! Watch @Paytm #INDvAUS on Star Sports.

Big admirer of Ravindra Jadeja the Test player. Walks into the Test team as a pure bowler & he is not just a support cast to Ashwin.???

For too long Jadeja had been seen as a bad wicket bowler. This season he has moved up and can claim to an all-wicket bowler in India
