Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have finally recorded their first win in IPL 2022 and that too in an emphatic manner. The Ravindra Jadeja-led side dismantled an in-form Royal Challengers Bangalore and walked away with a 23–run triumph. Chasing a mammoth 217, RCB never really looked in the hunt and lost wickets at regular intervals. They were eventually restricted to 193/9 in their allotted 20 overs as CSK open their account in the team standings.

Earlier, it was all about Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube after CSK were invited to bat first. The defending champions didn’t get off to a good start yet again with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali getting out early. At 36/2 in the 7th over, their innings was going nowhere. Uthappa and Dube then joined hands to add the next 24 runs calmly.

CSK were 60/2 after 10 overs but little did anyone know about the carnage that was going to follow. The duo went absolutely berserk at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai as the ball was flying all over the park. From Josh Hazlewood to Wanindu Hasaranga, every RCB bowler was taken to the cleaner as CSK posted the highest team score this season.

While Uthappa scored 88 off 50 deliveries, Dube scored an unbeaten 46-ball 95 as CSK posted a daunting 216/4 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, RCB got off to a horrendous start and never really got going. While skipper Faf du Plessis was out for eight, Virat Kohli scored three. RCB couldn’t bounce back from thereon and the result became a mere formality.

The likes of Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik and debutant Suyash Prabhudessai played some handy shots but their efforts could only narrow down the margin of defeat. The mystery spinner from Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshana was the wrecker-in-chief in the middle overs as he ripped apart RCB’s batting line-up with a four-wicket haul. RCB were eventually restricted for 193/9 , losing the contest by 23 runs.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitter reacted to CSK’s triumph:
