In the first match of Asia Cup between India and Bangladesh, Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field first. With a green top, it seemed the hosts had the advantage.

They struck thrice as India were 42 runs for the loss of 3 wickets at one stage in 7.5 overs. Even 130 seemed a good total at that moment for India but the tables turned around in really quick time.

Rohit Sharma who began slow by scoring just 21 runs from his first 27 balls went on to score an enthralling 62 runs in his next 27 balls. He ended up scoring a magnificent 83 from 55 balls, losing his wicket to Al-Amin in the last over while trying to loft over deep. His innings made sure India score a decent total. He hit 3 sixes and 7 boundaries in the behest of his innings.

Hardik Pandya proved Dhoni right by playing another gem of an innings smashing 31 off 18 balls. He went on to hit 4 boundaries and a six and provided the finishing touches to the Indian innings.

India were 97/4 before these two displayed their pinch hitting skills in a majestic way. Both Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya put on 61 off just 27 balls for the fifth wicket and their partnership led India’s total to 166/6. The pair has batted together on many occasions for Mumbai Indians and their understanding on the crease was evident of the fact.

Twitter kept everyone entertained by some hilarious tweets and showering praise on Rohit and Pandya. Here are some of the reactions:
