Rohit Sharma and his terrible form in the ongoing Indian Premier League reached a new zenith after the Mumbai Indians skipper was dismissed for a first-ball duck against the Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede. With little surprise, it was Jofra Archer who unwittingly picked up Sharma’s wicket as the latter made a futile attempt to guide the ball down to fine leg. Needless to say, the catch was eventually snapped up by Jaydev Unadkat.

Apart from the century in a solitary match, Rohit’s form with the bat has been quite terrible, to say the least. In fact, the Mumbai Indians also took the call to slot him down the order, in a bid to get the best out of their premier batsman. While the change has indeed worked for the likes of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav, in particular, it would also seem as though the move hasn’t really worked out for Rohit.

As for the dismissal against the Royals at the Wankhede, it would seem to many as though this one was rather unlucky, something that many commentators have attributed to bad form. It would also be alright to state that the ball did come off the meat of the bat, as far as Rohit was concerned barring the elevation that would have taken the ball over the fence. The delivery from Jofra Archer clocked in excess of 150 Kmph.

As things stand, the Mumbai Indians have failed to capitalize on the good start they had made courtesy of Evin Lewis and Suryakumar Yadav. At the moment, the Indians are currently heading towards the final few overs of the innings. Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan haven been tasked with the finish of the innings.
