Twitter Reactions: Rohit Sharma receives warm wishes on his 30th birthday

Team India opener and the captain of the Mumbai Indians Rohit Sharma turned 30 and the Twitterati was flooded with birthday tweets for the hard-hitting top order batsman. He has been an integral part of the Indian limited-overs side and remains the only batsman in the history of ODI cricket to smash 2 double centuries.

His IPL franchise Mumbai Indians is going through a purple patch and have won 7 out of the 9 matches they have played so far. They have looked relentless and clinched a nail-biting thriller yesterday against the Gujarat Lions via a super over. Meanwhile, his Indian and Mumbai Indian teammates heaped praises on him and wished him success in his future life.

Making his debut way back in 2007 against Ireland in Belfast, Rohit Sharma struggled during the initial phases of his career. He was cited to be one of the finest talents in the nation but was unable to convert it into performance. He was in and out of the team on a number of occasions before finally former Indian captain MS Dhoni decided to push him up the order during the Champions Trophy in 2013.

It worked wonders for Rohit as he started making big scores on a consistent basis. He made the opening slot his own in the coming days and churned out runs at will. His bat swing is one of the best in the world and on his given day he has the ability to smash star-studded bowling line-ups all around the stadium.

Despite his impressive ODI record, he hasn’t been able to replicate it in the longest format of the game. After smashing a couple of centuries in his first two Tests, Rohit just faded away after a string of poor scores in the away tours. He yet again came in the reckoning during the Test series against New Zealand and scored a crucial 8 before thigh injury ruled him out for the rest of the series. he underwent a surgery and made his comeback in the IPL.
