After the end of the historic Day-Night Test match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata against Bangladesh, the focus will shift to the home series against the West Indies. The fixtures will get underway with the T20Is, starting December 6. For the series against the Caribbean team, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad along with the one for the ODIs.

In the last year or so, the Men in Blue have played six T20Is against the West Indies and have emerged victorious in all of them. Last year, Rohit got to his fourth century in T20Is against the very opposition. In the meantime, the national selectors have decided to make a few changes. One of them, surprisingly was leaving out Sanju Samson, who made his India comeback in the last series.

Samson warms the benches in the Bangladesh T20Is

Samson returned to the scheme of things after some stupendous outings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. There, the right-hander amassed a superlative double ton against Goa in Alur. The knock drew praises from even personalities like Shashi Tharoor, who asked the selectors to take note of the youngster. Samson donned the India jersey back in 2015 against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club.

Samson was expected to take part in the Bangladesh T20Is. It was more so as Rishabh Pant was going through a poor run of form. But despite having most factors in his favour, Samson ended up warming the bench, much to his agony. Now to add insult to injury, he won’t be with the Indian team for the West Indies T20Is. Samson is currently playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

In the last two games, he had scores of 53 and 38 and has looked in good touch. The decision to leave him out for the upcoming series has furrowed a lot of eyebrows. People are finding it hard to comprehend the reasons behind leaving the youngster out without giving him any chance to show his mettle. It’s not much of a surprise that users on Twitter have lashed out at the India selectors.

Here is how Twitterati vented its frustration after Samson was left out:-
