Pakistan get past the finishing line

Pakistan made a terrible start to their run-chase as they managed only 24 runs in the powerplay and lost four wickets. Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, the two leading T20I run-scorers in 2021, couldn’t make an impact. Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik failed to open their accounts. From there on, Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah steadied the ship for Pakistan with a handy partnership of 56 runs.

Both batters scored 34 before pacers Taskin and Shoriful Islam nipped them out. The hosts got the visitors by the scruff of their necks as Pakistan needed 31 off their last three overs to win. But Shadab and Nawaz made sure that their team didn’t stumble at the finishing line. Even as Shadab stayed not out on 21 off 10, Nawaz stayed unbeaten on an eight-ball 18 with one four and two sixes.
