Winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat first. Sharjeel began in full flow, slamming Al-Amin for 2 sixes and a boundary in the second over before getting bowled to Arafat Sunny.
Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammed Hafeez then built on a magnificent partnership of 95 runs from just 68 balls with both scoring sensational half centuries.
Shahid Afridi then played a masterstroke by promoting himself to No.4. He raced his way to 49 runs from just 19 deliveries before getting out while trying to hit another over the fence. His fantastic knock propelled Pakistan’s total to 201/5 in their quota of 20 overs. Bangladesh bowlers on the other hand seemed hapless as they got swayed away by Afridi in utter disdain. Earlier Soumya Sarkar pulled off a superb effort at the boundary line to get rid of Hafeez.
Chasing 202 for victory, Bangladesh lost Soumya Sarkar as Amir struck in the very first over. Rahman and Tamim Iqbal began to gain a slight momentum for Bangladesh before Afridi sent both of them back. Shakib managed to stay on the crease but could hardly make a difference as Pakistan bowled well and the required rate had already mounted to over 15. He still managed to score a 50 and played as a lone warrior for Bangladesh.
In the end, it was a comfortable victory by 55 runs for Pakistan with a power packed all round performance. This large victory has highly lifted Pakistan’s chances as they now top the league in Group A. Shahid Afridi was undoubtedly announced the man of the match for scoring 49(19) and then picking 2 crucial wickets of the men in form Tamim Iqbal and Sabbir Rahman.
Twitter kept everyone entertained throughout the match, Right from Shehzad and Hafeez partnership to Afridi’s whirlwind innings, from Amir’s bowling to Afridi’s twin strikes. Here are some of the Twitter reactions during the Pakistan vs Bangladesh clash.
Loudest cheers for Afridi, even when the camera pans to him during the national anthem. No love missed. #WT20

Pak have point to prove against Bangladesh: as much to themselves as to rest of the world that they are still match winners #DilSay #Bing

#Pakistan batting gets a huge facelift with #AhmedShehzad opening their innings . He was the missing link in their baton department

When Ahmed Shahzad isn't getting himself out, he is as good as anybody. He could be the positive for Pakistan after the Asia Cup failure.

Solid job by Pakistan bowler to keep Tamim off strike all innings leading to dismissal. Only 20 balls in eight overs. Hit out in frustration
