Twitter Reactions: South Africa v New Zealand 3rd ODI, Proteas win home series 2-1: South Africa impressed one and all as they managed to win the 3rd ODI against the Kiwis by 62 runs and thus the series 2-1. The New Zealand chase was never on track as they lost wickets at regular intervals in the second half of the innings. They did have their chances, especially with Latham and Williamson laying a strong foundation. Latham notched up his third consecutive fifty of the series, which was also the 4th ODI fifty of his career. But 102 for 1 became 152 for 5, and that eventually became 221 all out. They lacked a big score and the lower-order firepower to combat a pretty tight, disciplined South African bowling performance. For the hosts David Wiese and Steyn were terrific with the ball.

Earlier, after South Africa opted to bat first, the openers Amla and van Wyk brought up their first 50+ stand in the series. Van Wyk registered his 4th ODI fifty which was steady but far from comfortable as he never took off. South Africa progressed nicely but they were slightly slow than expected. Amla and Rossouw fell in quick succession. AB de Villiers then got a fabulous partnership with David Miller and in the process went on to become the fastest batsman to 8000 ODI runs. Some quick runs by Behardien at the end helped Proteas get to a competitive 283 which proved too much for the Kiwis. With this win South Africa go to number 3 in the ICC ODI rankings.
