Twitter Reactions: Sri Lanka wins a nail biter against West Indies (D/L): Sri Lanka romped home after Ajantha Mendis towered a match-winning six to guide the hosts to a 1 wicket win over West Indies.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to field on a rain-hit 1st ODI. West Indies lost their initial wickets cheaply before Darren Bravo steadied the ship for good. Bravo smashed 3 boundaries and a six on his way to 38 off 58 balls.
Andre Russell joined the good work and played a vital cameo of 41 from 24 balls, with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes.
R. Lakmal was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka, as he picked up 3 wickets for 15 runs in 5 overs.
Sri Lanka received a target of 163 from the revised 26 overs. The Lankan’s got off to a flying start, as Dilshan scored a blistering half-century, courtesy 6 boundaries and 3 sixes. Sri Lanka were cruising in, having lost 3 wickets with 120 on the board.
Thirimanne and Mathews got out early, as the hosts were trailing at 120-4. Siriwardana was caged by Narine, as Sri Lanka were in a spot of bother at 132-5.
But Ajantha Mendis kept hanging on at one end to see the team through.
Mendis scored a vital unbeaten 21, which turned out to be the deciding factor. Let’s have a look at how the world of Twitter reacted to the nail-biting finish.
