Twitter Reactions: Sri Lanka seals the series with a eight wicket victory (D/L): Johnson Charles’ stroke-filled 83 from 70 balls and a vital 63 from acting captain Marlon Samuels helped West Indies set Sri Lanka 225 to win in a rain-reduced 38-over match.
Charles had West Indies cruising at close to a run-a-ball before rain forced a three-hour-ten-minute break in play. West Indies were well placed to set Sri Lanka something in the range of 240, but a robust Lasith Malinga controlled the damage at the death.
He claimed figures of 2 for 43 from his 7.4 overs, and even made two direct hit run-outs from close quarters in the final over. West Indies were all out for 214.
Sri Lanka started with a flash scoring 40 in 25 balls, before losing Dilshan for 17. Kusal Perera took the charge, as his stroke-filled 99 lifted Sri Lanka to a series win. Lahiru Thirimanne played the perfect fiddle scoring an unbeaten 81 to see the team through.
Sri Lanka clinched the match with 9 balls to spare while West Indies have themselves to be blamed for the scenario. Rampaul and Narine picked 1 wicket each, as Sri Lanka never lost the plot.
Kusal Perera was adjudged the man of the match, courtesy a match winning 99 off 92 balls, along with 6 boundaries and 4 sixes.
Sri Lanka now takes an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the 3 match series.
