Twitter Reactions: Steve Smith completes ton before rain washes out play on Day 4

Steve Smith barely crossed over the line with an impressive century before the rains made a divine intervention into the grand scheme of things. While it was the rains that washed off most of the day’s play, it is clear that the Aussies have the upper hand in a match that will continue to be marred by the rains.
With a day to play, the match will certainly be a draw. However, Steve Smith crossed a personal milestone as he went ahead and slammed an impressive century. As for the others, there was the unassuming Peter Handscomb who was also able to make an impressive impact on the match with an excellent and stroke full 54 in a bid to support his skipper at the other end.
There was also a ton of heartache for Nic Maddinson as he was unfortunately dismissed for yet another paltry score and it remains to be seen the kind of rope the Australian selectors are prepared to give him in the coming days in the Test match level.
While there was indeed swing in the MCG track, it was quite clear that the wicket was certainly one for the batsmen as the batters capitalized on some horrific bowling from the Pakistanis. Of course, they were up to a certain standard, but the extras and the no-balls bowled by Wahab Riaz effectively summed up the day as far as the bowlers were concerned.
It will be off to the third Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground for Pakistan to make a comeback and eventually square the series as they had done previously in England. This also brings to an end what would have been an impressive Boxing Day Test match in spite of the disappointments of the rain playing spoilsport.

Peter Handscomb has made a 50+ score in each of his first three Tests. Last Australian to do that was Michael Bevan in 1994 #AUSvPAK
