The high flying Sunrisers Hyderabad have had a tremendous start to the 2018 edition of the IPL. They won their first two games of the season, albeit at home. Now, the stage was all set for their first away game of the season at the iconic venue of Eden Gardens. The Kolkata Knight Riders hosted the SRH side in the marquee clash.
Coming in to the game, both sides had contrasting fortunes. While Sunrisers Hyderabad were flying high on confidence, the Kolkata Knight Riders had won one and lost one before coming in to this game. Despite their defeat in the previous game, KKR still took some confidence in to the game owing to the fact that they had won their first game at the very same home venue.
At the half way stage of the game, The Sunrisers Hyderabad would believe that they have a very good chance to make it three wins in a row. In the match, they have managed to restrict the star-studded KKR batting lineup to a modest 138. Earlier in the game, it was the SRH skipper Kane Williamson who had no hesitation in bowling first after winning the toss.
The KKR camp sprung a surprise by promoting Robin Uthappa to open the innings with Chris Lynn. However, the move failed on the day with Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissing Uthappa early on in the innings. Nitish Rana (18) could not do much either and was dismissed owing to brilliance from Manish Pandey in the field.
Manish also took another stunner later in the game to see Andre Russell (9) walk back cheaply in the match. The wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals and the KKR score could never really get the impetus despite a fine 49 (34) from Chris Lynn. The SRH bowlers dictated the terms and KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik tried to push his side an inch further with his lone ranger efforts in the fag end of the game.
Karthik’s fighting 29 off 27 deliveries propelled the KKR total to 138/8 in the stipulated 20 overs . Sunrisers would back themselves to chase the total. They will be banking heavily on Shikhar Dhawan to do well in the run chase.

This @SunRisers attack will ensure boring games just through their outstanding quality of bowling. Can't say the same about the batting! ?

SRH have put an exhibition of fielding at the Eden Gardens. They have the best bowling. And this has been the best fielding effort in the IPL thus far. #KKRvSRH #IPL

Former KKR boys destroying KKR. Manish in the field, Shakib with the ball, Yusuf's turn with the bat? #KKRvSRH

Disciplined effort from @SunRisers to restrict @KKRiders to 137. The catching was exceptional. And Kane I am told has been brilliant so far.
He will be a key batsmen through the season. #cwg2018— Boria Majumdar (@BoriaMajumdar) April 14, 2018
138 on board. Should mean SRH start favorites but they have a nearvy middle order. Can KKR target that? Mind wants another close game.
