In the final showdown of the IPL 9, the Royal Challengers Bangalore took on the Sunrisers Hyderabad for the IPL trophy. It was a thriller in the end and SRH went on to become IPL champions for the first time.
Captain David Warner won the toss as SRH elected to bat first. RCB made no changes from their winning XI from the Qualifiers while SRH had Mustafizur Rahman back for them.
How did the match pan out? – IPL 9, Final Review: Sunrisers Hyderabad are the champions of IPL 9
Batting first, Warner launched himself in with a magnificent captain’s knock of 69 (38). Some blistering knocks by Yuvraj Singh and Ben Cutting ensured that Sunrisers reached a mammoth total of 208/7 in their quota of 20 overs. Chris Jordan took 3 wickets but was expensive. Shane Watson leaked runs badly as he went for 61 in his 4 overs, a record he won’t be proud of.
For the Royal Challengers, everything went right in the first 10 overs with the bat. Chris Gayle rose to the occasion on the night of the finals with 76 runs from just 38 balls while Virat Kohli too hit another brilliant half century. At 140/1 in 12.4 overs, RCB almost had one hands to the trophy. However, the moment Kohli got out, SRH bowlers cashed in and scripted a perfect victory for their team.

Captaincy is all about decisions. When to bowl Bipul? Warner played it safe by waiting for Gayle Storm to pass, and it worked! Bipul gets AB.

For matches at Chinnaswamy stadium, ICC should allow 4 fielders outside the boundary rope, 2 outside stadium and 1 outside city. #RCBvSRH

Hard to call it a team game when the outcome depends so much on a handful of batting colossus like AB, Kohli, Warner. #IPL

We've seen a statement from @davidwarner31 already. It means #RCB will need one from at least one of their big guns.

According to Sidhu
Batsman is gadadhari,
Bowler is yoddha and
it is not Cricket match, it is Mahabharat.#RCBvSRH— Sunil- The Cricketer (@1sInto2s) May 29, 2016
If SRH scores 150 runs it will be a challenging target for Virat Kohli only. So, they need to make 100 more for AB De Villiers. #RCBvSRH
