After being badly beaten by the visiting team Pakistan in the first Test, the hosts West Indies showed resilience in the second. They started off on a high with their batsmen enabling them to a score in excess of the 300-run mark. However, their bowlers could not back up the good bowling show and ended up conceding a vital lead of 81 runs in the first innings.
Coming in to the third day of the Test, Pakistan were trailing by 140 runs in the first innings. They resumed the day’s play at 172/3 with opener Azhar Ali unbeaten on 81 and skipper Misbah just having arrived at the crease. Earlier on day 2, Ahmed Shehzad had perished after scoring a well compiled 70. The visitors dominated the proceedings on day 3 with both bat and the ball. Ali went on to notch up yet another century in his illustrious Test career.
His love for the West Indies bowling attack does not seem to end. On the other hand, Misbah looked in firm control of the proceedings as well. Both batsmen added 98 runs for the 4th wicket before Azhar Ali was dismissed by Devendra Bishoo on 105 that came off 278 deliveries. Meanwhile, Misbah went past his fifty and continued his good run of form in the series.
Unfortunately, Misbah missed yet another ton by just one run. He had remained unbeaten on 99 in the previous Test and was dismissed on the very same dreaded score of 99. Jason Holder got the opposition counterpart to break the hearts of several Pakistan fans. There were no further highlights in the innings after that. Yasir Shah played a late cameo that yielded 24 runs to the total as the visitors packed up on 393. West Indies, in their second innings, received an early jolt with Mohammad Abbas making short work of Kieran Powell.

I'm starting to believe that Misbah's successive 99s are an oblique tribute to Bradman… #WIvPAK

Shadab bowled last over of the day to Hetmyer. Both featured in U19WC last year. Shadab in fact dismissed him in the QF in Fatullah. #WIvPak
