Twitter Reactions: Twitterati slam Shahid Afridi for peace tweets

The tension is mounting in neighboring nations India and Pakistan ever since the Army Headquarters in Uri district of Jammu & Kashmir was attacked by terrorists that caused 18 casualties in the Indian side. The immediate response from the people and political class was that of anger as they wanted the government to avenge the death of the soldiers. Following which India has been pressing hard on Pakistan via diplomatic and other channels to act upon terrorist camps in the Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

Though they tried to work out other ways, the Indian government, in the end, had to push through with a surgical strike in particular areas of the PoK, termed ‘terrorist launch pads’ to eliminate those training there to surge into India and carry out attacks. It was claimed to be a successful operation on the Indian side while Pakistan absolutely denied there being any cross-border surgical strike and said it was just bullet shelling across the Line of Control for which they had given a befitting response.

Amidst all the tension, former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi tweeted and asked people from both sides to calm down and rather than building a situation which appears to be building up for a war, should focus on peace which is in favor of both the nations and its citizens.
