The stage was all set at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium for the first home game of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2018. The RCB team hosted the Kings XI Punjab in the marquee clash. It was a packed house on the day and the fans are thoroughly enjoying the home side dictating terms in the game. Coming in to the game, both sides had contrasting run of form.

The Kings XI Punjab had beaten the Delhi Daredevils in their first game of the season. On the other hand, the Royal Challengers Bangalore had lost their first game of the season against the Kolkata Knight Riders. RCB looked desperate to win and get the first points on the board this season. Their bowlers have lived up to the occasion and at the half way stage, the bowlers have put the hosts in a commanding position.

Commenting on the run of play, the KXIP camp got off to a flying start with KL Rahul milking 16 runs in the first over of the match. Rahul and Mayank Agarwal seemed to be teeing off right from the word go. And then came the fourth over of the innings. Umesh Yadav bowled a fiery over to take three wickets in the over, dismissing Mayank, Aaron Finch, and Yuvraj Singh.

Suddenly, KXIP were on the back foot. Karun Nair and KL Rahul then steadied the ship for the visitors. The Karnataka-duo added 58 runs for the fourth wicket before Rahul threw away his wicket in an attempt to accelerate the innings in the 12th over. Rahul scored 47 off 30 deliveries and looked in sublime form. Soon, Karun Nair gave his wicket away on 29 (26) as well. The wickets of Marcus Stoinis (11) and Axar Patel (2) fell in quick succession and RCB were all over the Kings in the game.

Towards the end, Ravichandran Ashwin played a handy knock of 33 off 20 deliveries to propel the KXIP score past the 150-mark. The innings bundled out fot 155 in 19.2 overs with Umesh being the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/23. Washington Sundar, Kulwant Khejroliya, and Chris Woakes bagged two wickets each.
