Twitter Reactions: Usman Khan's five-wicket haul helps Pakistan complete a 5-nil whitewash

In what was a complete one sided encounter between both the sides, Pakistan ended up completing a 5-0 whitewash of Sri Lanka in the One Day International series after the defeat in the test series. Sri Lanka on the other hand, continued their 12 match losing streak.

Earlier in the day, it was skipper Upul Tharanga who won the toss as Sri Lanka elected to bat first, a decision he would go on to regret within an hour. They dropped Lahiru Gamage and left out Akila Dananjaya. On the other hand, Pakistan brought in Usama Khan for the final game.

Batting first, Sri Lanka received a major jolt early into the innings with the dismissals of Sadeera Samarawickrama and Dinesh Chandimal. Usama Khan who was playing his second One Dayer got their wickets on consecutive deliveries in the very first over. He continued with his stupendous spell accounting for the wicket of skipper Upul Tharanga and Niroshan Dickwella in his second over. The islanders were reeling at 8/4 after having faced just 17 balls.

Milind Siriwardana also became a prey of Usama who went on to complete his five wicket haul in an extraordinary style. Sri Lanka tried to lower the damage but they were already baffled. Lahiru Thirimanne was outdone by Hasan Ali. While Thisara Perera batted for a bit to take SL past 100, the others crumbled around him. Sri Lanka were bundled for a paltry 103 runs, not even lasting 30 overs.

As for the Pakistani side, they never failed any difficulty chasing 104 for attaining a whitewash. Imam Ul Haq and Fakhar Zaman put up a splendid 84 run partnership for the opening wicket. While Fakhar got out just two runs short of his fifty, Imam remained stranded at 45 not out. Pakistan achieved the target with almost 30 overs to spare.

Jeffrey Vandersay was the lone wicket taker for the Sri Lankans. With this loss, Sri Lanka achieved their second consecutive series thrashing after having been mauled 5-0 by India at home. Twitter lauded Usama Khan for his fantastic spell and trolled the Sri Lankan team for  yet another ridiculous day on the field.
