The third and final Test match between Australia and Pakistan is all set for a thrilling climax. The Pakistan side ended Day Four with their scorecard reading 73/0. And, the Babar Azam-led side is 278 runs away from the target set by the Australians.

The Pakistan openers, Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq, survived 27 overs that the Aussies bowled to them. While Shafique is unbeaten on 27 having faced 69 deliveries, Imam has helped himself to a patient 93-ball 42*. There were chances offered by the Pakistan batters, but the Australians failed to latch on to them. And in the end, no damage was done to the hosts when stumps were drawn on Day Four.

Australia started the day with their scorecard reading 11/0. The openers, David Warner and Usman Khawaja, gave the Australian side a good start and forged a solid partnership of 96 runs for the opening wicket. Warner was cleaned up by a superb delivery from left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi.

Usman Khawaja’s dream run with the willow against Pakistan continues

Usman Khawaja’s surreal run with the bat in this three-match Test series against the Pakistan side continued. The left-hander struck yet another magnificent century and bossed over the Pakistan bowling attack. Marnus Labuschagne chipped in with a handy 58-ball 36 as well.

It was also a day to remember for Steve Smith, as he crossed the 8000-run mark in Test match cricket. The Australian batting icon is the quickest in the history of the game to reach the milestone. Smith took only 151 innings to breach the 8000-run barrier, and got there one innings quicker than the second-placed Kumar Sangakkara, who breached the landmark in 152 innings.

However, Smith was dismissed soon after he crossed the landmark, and walked back for a 27-ball 17. For Pakistan, the likes of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Nauman Ali picked up one wicket each with the red cherry in hand, as Australia declared with their scoreboard reading 227/3.
