The Indian team was in a tricky situation, the top four batsmen were out to back in the pavilion with just 68 runs on the board. But all hopes were not lost for Team India as skipper Virat Kohli was still there in the middle and was not willing to let the visitors take advantage in the series. He found a partner in Kedar Jadhav.  The duo had the challenge to not just stabilize the innings but also score quick runs.

Right from the onset both Virat and Jadhav played aggressive shots, the boundaries and occasional sixes kept the required rate in check. While Virat was playing in his own self the Maharashtra batsman also got going soon and didn’t let the pressure build on his partner. What that ensured was the English bowlers who were coming hard at them until then were taken a back and forced to change strategies.

Once the game was in the middle overs and the spinners were in the attack along with the non regular bowlers they upped the ante and surged through the chase. Virat got to his half century; the 62nd of his ODI career and so did Kedar. It took him just 29 balls to get to his fifty. The momentum of the game was shifting pretty quickly and these two were racing away towards the target. Though 350 was still at a distance but it was in sight on the back of their 200-run partnership.

Virat eventually reached the triple figures; his 27th ODI century but he didn’t celebrate, just put his bat half up as he knew the job wasn’t done yet. His partner also got to his century, the second of his career and Jadhav took just 65 balls which made it the 6th fastest ODI hundred by an Indian.
