Yasir Shah, the Pakistani leg-spinner spun the web around the English batsmen on Day 2 of the first Test match of the series at Lord’s and ensured it is Pakistan that end the day in a commanding position.
Earlier, it was the skipper Misbah-ul-Haq who made the headlines on Day 1 after his blistering ton to take the visitors to a decent total of 339. England was in a healthy position at 118 for the loss of 1 wicket with skipper Alastair Cook and Joe Root looking good.
On 48, Root threw away his wicket while trying to hit a slog sweep against Yasir Shah, probably fell into the pressure created by him. James Vince was the new batsman, Yasir continued to add pressure and a few close leg-before-wicket appeals turned down by the umpires. Eventually, Vince was trapped lbw.
Gary Balance was the next to go, who was also trapped in front. There was nothing much Ballance could do with that beautifully flighted delivery, which drifted into him with the loop.

Jonny Bairstow looked good for his 29 until he was trapped by the old fashion Shane Warne strategy. He set Bairstow with a set of leg-spinners on middle and leg line and suddenly bowled one on the off-stump. As every batsman, Bairstow’s eye lit up and positioned himself for the cut through point. Guess what! It was a ‘slider’, which came in with the arm quick and low and that cleaned him up.
Yasir became the first leg-spinner to claim 5 wickets at Lord’s in the last 20 years. Let us have a look at what the various eminent cricket personalities had to say about Yasir’s performance and how fans appreciated his bowling effort:

England's batting tested by quality bowling for the first time this summer. The brittleness of the middle order will continuously be exposed
