The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the 15-man team India squad for the limited overs series against Sri Lanka. While the core of the team looks pretty much the same, there were a couple of surprising exclusions from the squad. Veteran Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh faced the axe from the lineup. Meanwhile, another veteran campaigner, Suresh Raina, failed to make a comeback to the team.

It was speculated that Raina could well make a comeback in this particular series. He had been working a lot on his fitness in the recent times and was seen at the NCA working on the same. Also, Yuvraj Singh had been a decent performer for the men in blue in the Champions Trophy this year.

Despite this, he failed to get into the side. The social media certainly could not cease to exclaim at the exclusion of Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Raina from the Indian side. Among the other big names that have not been listed in the Indian squad, the names of Mohammad Shami, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Umesh Yadav are the prominent ones. Meanwhile, there were a few who made a comeback to the team as well.

All-rounder Axar Patel has made a comeback to the team after almost a year. He is the like for like replacement for Ravindra Jadeja in the side. Earlier, he had flown to Sri Lanka prior to the commencement of the final Test of the 3-match series against the Lankans. Also, Manish Pandey, who had to back out of the Champions Trophy this year, has made a comeback to the national side.

KL Rahul will also be returning to the colored outfit after a big lay off. Young leggie Yuzvendra Chahal has also been named in the side. Chahal had picked up a six wicket haul in a T20I fixture against England earlier this year. Team India will play five ODIs and a solitary T20I game during the tour. They have already won the Test series with 2-0 being the scoreline and the third Test in progression. They look set to win the final Test as well.

Meanwhile, here is how the Twitterati reacted to the ouster of Yuvraj Singh and Raina:
