No one would have given the Windies a chance in the series against England before it actually kicked off. Many might have believed that beating the hosts will be a cakewalk for the Brits. The Windies also lost the Test series against a relatively weaker Bangladesh just before the current series.
But, things have turned out to be the complete opposite in just two weeks time. The team from the Caribbean islands thumped the English men in the first two Test matches. They defeated England at home in a Test series after a gap of 10 years to recreate history. It was not just ordinary wins for the Windies but the kind of victories that will remind you of the vintage team of the ’80s.
Kevin Pietersen fails to make sense
In the opening game of the three-match series, the home team defeated the visitors by a massive 381-run margin. The Windies proved that the previous win ain’t a fluke by defeating the ICC No.3 Test team against in the second Test by 10 wickets. Jason Holder and Kemar Roach were the chief architects of this win while the other players have contributed just as well.
However, the England fans aren’t able to digest this back-to-back loses. Kevin Pietersen was among those who backed the team and justified the defeats with a bizarre statement. He noted that the team was still on course citing that Tests weren’t a priority for England as they aim to win the World Cup later this year.
“Remember – Tests weren’t a priority during this cycle for England Cricket. Their target was to win this years 50 over WC. They’re still on course,” wrote Kevin Pietersen.

But, this statement isn’t completely true. England played 13 Tests in 2018, the second highest amongst the Test playing nations. Furthermore, when most of the teams are playing limited-overs cricket at this point in time, England is playing Test cricket after the players went on a two months break post the series against Sri Lanka in 2018. These statements from Kevin Pietersen infuriated the fans and they absolutely roasted him on Twitter.
Here is how Twitterati responded:
So to be good in one day cricket they decided to be shit in Tests?
