The women’s T20 World Cup tournament is hours away from kick-off time and the fans from every nook and corner of the cricket ecosystem are eagerly waiting to follow the marquee event. The defending champions and the hosts, Australia women will lock horns with India women in Group A opening encounter which is scheduled to be played at Spotless Stadium in Sydney on February 21 (Friday).

Ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup, an unwanted incident took place which literally disturbed the moods of the cricket fans. A certain section of fans expressed discontent by passing horrible remarks after global cricket body, International Cricket Council (ICC) shared an infamous video of Pakistan women cricketers dancing.

Several fans want Pakistani women cricketers to dictate their tempo on the cricket field by chipping in with good performances instead of putting on a dance show that irked the majority. Pakistan women will play their first Group B match against West Indies women at Manuka Oval in Canberra on February 26 (Wednesday).

ICC posted a video which didn’t please the fans on social media

Ahead of the start of the showpiece event, ICC took to social media platform to share a video clip of cricketers dancing and the video received negative comments from some fans. The caption from the post reads: “The @TheRealPCB team are absolute rockstars.” While there were few fans who took time to appreciate the video, there were others who disliked the video as they came up with bad comments.

Here’s ICC’s tweet

After playing West Indies, Pakistan will play against the likes of England, South Africa, and Thailand respectively. India, on the other hand, who are placed in Group A will have to play against Australia, Bangladesh, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka respectively. It should be noted that two teams will qualify from each group and the first place holder will take on second place holder from the other group. The final match will be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on March 8 (Sunday).

Pakistan and India are yet to win a major tournament and will enter this showpiece event as dark horses. Australia women are the most successful team in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup tournament’s history as they added four titles to their coveted trophy cabinet.
