Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have played in 10 editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and have won the title three times. The team, led by MS Dhoni, have made the playoffs every other time and was last year’s runners-up after losing to Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI) by one run in Hyderabad. However, CSK is one team, one could never write off at any stage of the tournament.

The team has already started their preparations for the upcoming edition of the T20 tournament. The players have reached Chennai for their training camp where they will be honing their skills at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk. Earlier, the Tamil Nadu government have Super Kings the permission to train at the venue before the players head to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

MS Dhoni to play for CSK

The event is also set to mark the return of MS Dhoni, who hasn’t played any form of cricket for over a year now. The 39-year-old last plied his trade in the 2019 World Cup semi-final match against New Zealand at the Old Trafford in Manchester. Martin Guptill ran him out in the crucial encounter. Ever since then, he went on a sabbatical and reports of his retirement kept doing the rounds.

The 2020 IPL is set to get underway on September 19 with all the teams busy in their preparations. A number of safety protocols surrounding the coronavirus pandemic will be in place. Eyes will be on CSK and Dhoni as to how they turn up for the tournament.

In the meantime, Suresh Raina posted a couple of pictures where they can be seen in a flight. He, along with MS Dhoni, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla and Karn Sharma, gave poses and looked delighted. The Uttar Pradesh-born Raina, who has been with CSK since 2008, also thanked Vistara for carrying them all the way to Chennai in the global pandemic situation.

However, the fans were somewhat agitated. The netizens questioned the players for not maintaining social-distancing, which has been a heated topic of discussion ever since the COVID-19 virus started unfolding mayhem across the globe. The users on Twitter reminded them of their obligations.
