The England vs India Test series is more about Indian batsmen dealing with the English pace bowling test and more than that Virat Kohli vs James Anderson. It isn’t intended to be but it is. Last time, in 2014 it was Anderson who had a laugh throughout the series as he made Kohli his bunny dismissing him in almost the same manner each time. Over the years the Indian skipper has worked on his technique and is a much better player, however, only time will tell how he gets over this hurdle.

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar was asked by a popular cricket portal to explain what Kohli needs to do in order to deal with Anderson’s fire. As per his analysis, the right-hander needs to leave everything that’s away from the stumps but at the same time beware of the one that will swing back into him.

On the tour of South Africa, he drove the ball well but the one that shaped back into his pads caught him plumb in front.

“The moment Virat Kohli comes in and no matter if Broad has got three wickets in the last over, they will give the ball to Jimmy Anderson. Because with a great batsman, you need to get them out early and they try to revive all his nightmares for his last trip in 2014,” said Manjrekar told ESPN Cricinfo.

The whole setup will be to produce an edge and for the slip fielders to come into play.

“The field will also be an elaborate one with maybe two or even three slips and a gully and also take men out and place in the covers and entice him to play those cover drives which is a dangerous shot at the start of the innings especially in England. I can actually see Jimmy Anderson not giving a single ball to Virat Kohli to play bat and ball,” he further mentioned.

Now, while this analysis might sound legit to some and others can argue on what he must do, Twitterati weren’t quite pleased with Manjrekar giving Kohli batting tips.

They trolled the commentator and expert for the same, here are some reactions:
