Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was all set to deliver his first ever speech in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, December 21, 2017. Much to his disappointment, he could not give the speech since the opposition party members started shouting and disrupted as soon as he tried to start his speech. Well, they did not shout at Sachin, but were clearly not interested in listening to the words that the legendary cricketer had to convey on the day.

Sachin Tendulkar was expected to deliver a speech on sports in the country. This was set to be his first speech in the Rajya Sabha, the governing house of parliamentarians in the country. He has been a part of the Rajya Sabha for almost half a decade now. Interestingly, it was the UPA (Union Progressive Alliance) government that had inducted Sachin in the Rajya Sabha.

Also, they were the ruling party when they had nominated Sachin Tendulkar for the highest civilian honor of the country, the Bharat Ratna. And today, the same parliamentarians of the UPA government disrupted Sachin’s speech at the house.

The social media found a good time to comment on the entire episode. There were a few who mocked the UPA parliamentarians for their behavior. They started shouting since they were more interested in listening about the 2G scam verdict. There were another group of people who took things on the lighter note. They tried to make jokes out of the entire scene and shared it on the social media.

Meanwhile, Sachin’s good friend and former Indian cricketer, Vinod Kambli, found it absolutely disgusting that a person of Sachin’s stature was not allowed to speak. “@sachin_rt .I’m disgusted with the Irrational behaviour Of some Of the Parliamentarian who did not allow my Friend Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar to Voice his Opinion towards the Upliftment and betterment of Sports in Our Country,” Vinod Kambli wrote.

Here is how the Twitterati reacted to Sachin’s maiden attempt going wrong:
