Twitterati react to the sexual harassment allegations levied on Lasith Malinga

Throughout the internet, women are coming out with stories of the sexual harassment they have faced and most are naming those who were responsible for the horrific experience. Whether it has happened at work or on a date, whether it was the boss or an acquaintance, the victims have shown a lot of bravery in coming out and talking about it in public.

Every passing day, we’ve seen huge allegations coming up against men who have been in the public eye for long. Now according to the latest accusations, Sri Lankan cricketer Lasith Malinga forced himself on a girl at a hotel in Mumbai during the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he represents the Mumbai Indians franchise.

Bollywood singer Sripaada shared a post on her Twitter handle where she narrated the alleged incident. The woman chose to remain anonymous. It remains to be seen how the Sri Lankan Cricket and Malinga respond to these serious allegations. She also mentioned that the victim was ready to speak to the media on the condition of anonymity.

Earlier, an Indian flight attendant claimed that former Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga sexually harassed her. The World Cup winning captain was accused of grabbing her by the waist. The incident took place in Mumbai. She also shared another account of sexual harassment she was subject to by singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya.

However, the Malinga incident comes as a shock that a cricketer of such high repute could’ve possibly done something so horrendous. The cricketing fraternity had witnessed something similar a few months ago when a popular sports journalist was sacked from his job for his unacceptable behaviour. The predator often preyed upon young girls who were starting out in the profession, it was also exposed on social media.
