The ongoing third One- Day International between India and South Africa being played at Cape Town will be known for the blistering knock of 160 played by captain Virat Kohli who thwarted the bowlers to all corners of The Newlands Stadium. His monumental innings propelled the Indian score to 303. A pull of paceman  Kagiso Rabada was a stamp of Kohli’s class. He is the top scorer in the current ODI Series and his match-winning innings has given India the chance to go 3-0 up.

So far in the ODI series, MS Dhoni has been at his subdued best at least with the bat. To be fair to him he hasn’t got many opportunities so far as the Indian top-order led by Virat Kohli has been blazing away. But, Dhoni walked out to bat in the third ODI when there were more than Twelve overs left. But, Dhoni had a disappointing outing with the bat as he was caught by Paceman Lungi  Ngidi at the Long-on Boundary off Imran Tahir when he was at on ten.

MS Dhoni completes 400 ODI dismissals

He looked rusty and struggled to rotate the Strike especially against the spinners. But, he redeemed himself in the Second innings when he effected a sharp stumping off the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav to dismiss The South African skipper Aiden Markram when he was on 32 off 42 deliveries. The wicket came at the right time for the Indians as the South Africans had just started to build up some momentum and were in the hunt to chase down the big total.

Over time, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has built up his own special style of wicket-keeping which cannot be emulated by anyone in the world. The delivery which got rid of Markram was a special one as it spun past the edge of Markram and Dhoni was alert enough to whip the bails off.
