Kuldeep Yadav was deemed as an X-factor since he forayed into international cricket. He first donned the national jersey back in March 2017 against Australia in Dharamsala. However, his Test career hasn’t flourished just yet even after four years since his debut at the highest level. In fact, the 26-year-old young spinner hasn’t played a Test for the last two years.

His last game in the whites was against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground back in January 2019. In six Tests thus far, the Uttar Pradesh-born has picked 24 wickets with best figures of 6/119. Of late, he has strained to find his feet even in the ODI and T20I formats. However, he was picked for the opening two Tests against England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Kuldeep Yadav misses out yet again

Before the series, Axar Patel, the left-arm spinner, was ruled out of the opening Test, which started on February 5. The left-armer complained of a knee injury. In his place, left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem and leg-spinner Rahul Chahar were added to the squad.

“Axar Patel has been ruled out of the first Paytm Test against England. The all-rounder complained of pain in his left knee during Team India’s optional training session on Thursday. He is being monitored by the BCCI Medical Team and while his detailed reports are awaited, he will not be available for selection for the opening match,” the BCCI wrote in a statement.

However, despite Axar being ruled out, Kuldeep didn’t find a place in the eleven for the first Test. Nadeem got a chance to partner Ravi Ashwin and Washington Sundar in the spin department. Mayank Agarwal, who was a part of India’s glory run in the Border Gavaskar Trophy also missed out. He was a stalwart of India’s top-order when India last played Test cricket at home.

In the meantime, Twitterati aren’t happy with Kuldeep’s omission by any stretch of the imagination. The users on social media lashed out at the team management for keeping Yadav on the bench yet another time. They couldn’t comprehend why the tweaker doesn’t play enough Test cricket.

Here’s how the netizens reacted to Kuldeep Yadav’s omission:
