Australian wicket-keeper batsman Matthew Wade is under tremendous pressure after failing to pile up runs in yet another series. Wade hasn’t scored above 20 in his last 10 international matches and that is clearly a concern for the batsman. Australia lost the five-match ODI series to India after facing a defeat in the final game in Nagpur yesterday.

Wade was the only specialist wicket-keeper in the Australian squad but despite that he was dropped for one of the ODI games and was replaced by Peter Handscomb. He recently spoke about his current form and the fact that he needs to score runs to cement his place for the games ahead.

“I probably have not scored enough runs. My performance has been summed up by me getting dropped in the last game (third ODI), so there is no point sitting here and thinking about what has already happened. The selectors have told me I need score runs if I am to be picked.” he said.

Wade conceded 30 runs in byes in the 1st Test match against Bangladesh but came back strongly in the 2nd Test. “A lot has been made about me failing in the Bangladesh and couple of times here. But before I played in India I was batting really well. I would have liked to score more runs in this series but that’s not happened. If I think back to the way I was batting in India [during the Test series] I played quite well. It is not panic stations yet and I know what I have to do.” he added.

Not in the T20 squad

Wade is not a part of the T20 squad and therefore he will be focusing on the 2017-18 Shield Season, commencing on October 26. Twitterati never spare anyone and it turned out to be the same with the Aussie struggling connect bat to ball. One of the cricket follower said that Wade is in the team only to say ‘Nice, Gary!’ from behind the stumps while many asked him to quit. He was also criticized for not scoring enough runs since the Bangladesh series. Let’s have a look at the Tweets:
