Whether it was Rishabh Pant vs Tim Paine or Sarfaraz Ahmed’s comments on Andile Phelukwayo, stump mic have taken quite a lot of attention recently. It has sparked off another controversy in the ongoing third Test match between Windies and England. The fast bowler Shannon Gabriel was given a warning by the on-field umpires over the use of abusive language during the third day’s play at Gros Islet.
During the afternoon session of play on Monday, Shannon Gabriel was spotted having a heated exchange with England captain Joe Root and his batting partner Joe Denly. In a video circulating online, Root can be heard on the stump mic calling out the West Indies pacer for use of abusive language.
“There is nothing wrong with being gay,” Root can be heard telling Gabriel after the pacer had a go at the two England batsmen. While Root’s voice can be heard on the stump mic, it’s unclear what Gabriel had said the two batsmen.
Manjrekar puts forth his views
Regarding the matter, Sanjay Manjrekar called on the International Cricket Council (ICC) to look into the increased use of stump mics in recent cricket series following which Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed got into trouble. The cricketer turned commentator took to Twitter to express that Gabriel could not be in trouble and felt that the cricket body should look after the use of stump mic these days.
“After Sarfraz it’s Shannon Gabriel now who could be in trouble thanks to the stump mics. #ICC must brainstorm and decide if increased use of stump mics is actually good for the game or not,” he tweeted.

The officials have reportedly understood to have told match referee, Jeff Crowe, that they didn’t hear anything that would get Gabriel into trouble with regards to ICC’s Code of Conduct. It remains to be seen if there will be more investigation on the matter. Meanwhile, Sanjay Manjrekar was at the receiving end for his tweet as the fans trolled him hilariously.
Here’s how he was trolled:
Many students are getting caught cheating in the exam . Authorities must brainstorm if increased use of invigilators is actually good for the exams or not.

Let's remove the cameras too? Look at what happened to Steve Smith. All the controversy would've been avoided if there were no cameras at all. Let's just stop playing, then no one would be able to pass racist comments on the field! 🤦🏽♂️

they are in trouble because of what they said, not because of the stump mics. Hope that helps!

How about getting rid of racial & homophobic comments from our game? Rather than turning the stump mics down

Just when I think your opinions can't get worse you come up with new bizzare takes..

What are you saying here?
Be competitive yes. But don't be racist or homophobic.
Good guys or not, heat of the moment or not, there's just no need for it. Glad there are stump mics to give light to this rubbish, so it can stop. https://t.co/ukrePIEhFV— Peter Borren (@dutchiepdb) February 12, 2019
If the bad words are being highlited due to stump mic, then it is good naa ??

Or maybe the players should reassess what language they feel is acceptable? The cricket field is their workplace, speaking the way they have would not, thankfully, be considered suitable for in many work environments!

Yes ban the cameras too whilst you're at it. So that the poor sledgers, tamperers are not hampered.
