27-year old Karnataka batsman, Mayank Agarwal has been in a staggering and extraordinary recently in the entire domestic season in India. He first exhibited a stunning performance in the Ranji Trophy season 2017-18, where he compiled a record 1160 runs in eight matches at a healthy average of more than 100, which included a career-best score of a massive unbeaten 304 runs.
Aggarwal continued explosive run in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy also, where he tallied 258 runs in nine fixtures, with the highest score of 86 runs. He is still in recurring touch in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018, in which his State team would now be playing the finale encounter and the opener has scored 633 runs in seven matches so far, with a score of 140 during the league games being his favourable outing.
After an incredible and golden period in the recent domestic competitions, the Karnataka batsman, unfortunately, missed out on receiving his maiden call-up to the national team, when the squad was announced for the upcoming Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka next month.
It would surely be a disappointing feeling for the in-form batsman after having not considered for the opportunity to gain the peculiar limelight by the national Indian selectors. Several cricket fans and people associated with the game expressed their concerns for the talented cricketer for missing out on a selection in the Indian T20I side.
It's sad that Mayank Agarwal has been overlooked for the #NidahasTrophy
No one has been as consistent as him this season!— Chiranthhh (@ChiranthJSA) February 25, 2018
With close to 2000 runs this domestic season, Mayank Agarwal is a bit unlucky to miss out on India call-up. When someone is in form of his life, he should be given a chance sooner. The wait just got longer & IPL becomes crucial now. #Nidahastrophy

Always selecting the players in very wrong manner. Why don't select Mayank Agarwal. Is The players such as Vijay Shankar, Rishabh pant is very good than Agarwal ?. Worst BCCI @BCCI

So, basically IPL is the only criteria to get into the Indian team? Why no Mayank Agarwal in India squad for the tri-series against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka #bcci #indiasquad
